Dedication Celebration

events1It was a joyous occasion when Love INC New HOPE dedicated its new clearinghouse in Crystal for an Open House and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 8. Nearly 50 people attended the noontime celebration, including volunteers and pastors from various partner churches, owners and employees of neighboring businesses and community leaders.

Lynn Hauger, Love INC events2s1New HOPE’s Chairman of the Board, welcomed guests and shared the mission of Love INC with guests, many of whom were unfamiliar with this ministry and the positive impact it can have on a community.  “We are excited about the opportunity to mobilize churches to provide for the poor and needy in our communities. Our goal as a Love In the Name of Christ affiliate is to enable churches to pool their resources and ministries so that those with legitimate needs will be helped. Also, to positively impact the lives of those who are being helped through developing ongoing relationships and sharing the Gospel of Christ.”  Rev. Tom Parrish, Executive Pastor from Hope Lutheran Church prayed a blessing over the ministry, and several Board members were on hand to welcome guests, make connections and answer questions.

Representatives from the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce presented a welcome basket to Chairman Lynn Hauger, and afterwards the entire group headed outdoors for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark this milestone in the life of Love INC New HOPE. After several years of planning and preparing, the Love INC New HOPE affiliate is nearly ready to open its doors and do what it’s meant to do - serve those in need and show them the love of Christ.

National Conference Impact Prayer is an Integral Part of Who We Are

Every year we have the opportunity to join with other Love INC affiliates from around the country to be inspired by well known national Christian leaders, to be taught key strategies by skilled trainers, to learn the current status of our national headquarters, and to worship together. Yes, to worship together. In order to fulfill our mission, “to mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ,” we are exhorted to feed our spiritual lives, individually and corporately, so that God can work through us to achieve that goal. Therefore, prayer is an integral part of who we are and what we do.

Another level of prayer is the act of worship, lifting our voices in praise to our God. This occurs at the beginning of every whole group gathering. Every workshop is begun in prayer. Through these humbling responses to Almighty God, we are reminded why Love INC is so unique. We don’t aim to just meet the physical need, as do so many other non-profit organizations; our goal is to avail ourselves to our Lord so that His power is released to establish genuine, ongoing relationships with people in our community who come looking for assistance. Doing this allows us to Love in the Name of Christ.

One of the most helpful reminders I heard at this conference was given by Lois Tupyi, a gifted trainer and the Executive Director of the Love INC affiliate in Nampa, Idaho. The first slide of her presentation was a copy of the hymn, The Solid Rock. Her point was that we can never forget that the foundation for everything we do and say in this ministry must flow from the foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are absolutely sunk if we ever forget that or attempt to follow our own agenda of how to meet peoples’ needs. Every day in her Clearinghouse is begun with prayer. Volunteers huddle in prayer when a difficult need is relayed by telephone. Prayers of praise are lifted when a match is found to meet a need. Joy and unity abound because the humble and worshipful act of prayer reminds all that the ministry belongs to and is driven by God. This Love INC New HOPE affiliate is eager to begin work and follow the models presented to us at National Conference.
